Accident – Death – Obituary News : GILLETTE, Wyo. — Tragedy struck on Wednesday afternoon as a North Dakota man lost his life in a horrific crash on Highway 59 in Campbell County. The incident, which occurred around 2:17 p.m. on May 29, resulted in the death of 78-year-old Walter L. Ouradnik from New Town, North Dakota.

According to Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Ouradnik was driving a 2017 Cadillac XTS when he veered off Highway 59 and crashed through a fence near the Durham Ranch. The crash was compounded by the impact of several fence posts piercing through the vehicle’s windshield, fatally striking Ouradnik in the driver’s seat. His 76-year-old wife, who was in the passenger seat, sustained minor injuries in the collision.

In the aftermath of the tragic incident, Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem revealed that the cause of death was attributed to blunt-force trauma. However, he refrained from confirming whether a medical event could have triggered Ouradnik’s loss of control over the vehicle. An autopsy has been scheduled for May 30 to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
