Accident – Death – Obituary News : Three individuals, two women, and one man are now facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the tragic death of a man on Sturgeon Lake First Nation last year. The incident, which took place on November 8, prompted Valleyview RCMP officers to respond to a report of a man who had been assaulted and was found with serious lacerations to his body at a residence on Sturgeon Lake First Nation.

The victim, identified as Aaron Bellcourt, 36, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Following an autopsy conducted by the Edmonton medical examiner’s office, it was determined that Bellcourt’s death was a result of a homicide, sparking a thorough investigation by the Alberta RCMP major crimes unit.

After months of diligent work, on May 24, authorities, with the assistance of partnering agencies, were able to make three arrests in connection with the case. Sara Dawn Aleisha Kappo, 35, from Red Deer, Tevenna Angel Rae Kappo, 30, and Dallas Goodswimmer, 23, from Valleyview, have all been charged with first-degree murder.

All three suspects have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in court in Grande Prairie on June 24. In a statement released by Cpl. Cale Marriott of the Alberta RCMP major crimes unit, he emphasized the importance of murder investigations and expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to the arrests.
