In a series of unfortunate events that unfolded throughout the month of May, Delaware State Police have arrested a 14-year-old male from Wilmington, Delaware, in connection with multiple burglaries and a robbery in North Wilmington. The young culprit’s spree of criminal activities spanned various locations in the area, leaving a trail of chaos and fear in its wake.

The crime wave began on May 15, 2024, at approximately 8:56 p.m., when troopers were alerted to a knifepoint robbery at a Walgreens store located at 802 Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington. The suspect, wielding a large knife, threatened a store employee at the front counter and demanded money from the registers. The employee complied, and the brazen thief fled on foot towards Duncan Road with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Just two days later, on May 17, 2024, at around 2:16 a.m., troopers were dispatched to Belak Flowers at 832 Philadelphia Pike following a report of a burglary. The perpetrator had broken into the establishment by smashing a glass window with a rock and proceeded to steal property, money, and even a set of keys to a Chevrolet Express van. The stolen vehicle was later recovered near the Paladin Club Condominiums after being abandoned by the fleeing criminal.

The crime spree continued between May 22, 2024, and May 27, 2024, with a series of burglaries at medical centers in North Wilmington. Pure Wellness, Dougherty Dental Solutions, Wilmington Medical Associates, and Synergy Integrated Health were all targeted by the young offender, who gained entry by breaking glass doors or windows and making off with medical supplies and cash.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Detectives, the New Castle County Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the suspect was identified as the same individual responsible for similar crimes within the jurisdiction of the New Castle County Police Department. The 14-year-old was apprehended on May 28, 2024, by the New Castle County Police Department and has since been charged by the Delaware State Police with a litany of offences.

The charges against the teenage criminal include Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree (6 counts), Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (3 counts), Possession of Burglar Tools (2 counts), Theft Under $1,500 (6 counts), Criminal Mischief $1,000 but less than $5,000 (3 counts), and Criminal Mischief Under $1,500.

Following his arraignment by New Castle County Family Court, the young offender was remanded to the New Castle County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond. The swift actions of law enforcement have brought a swift end to the teenager’s reign of terror, ensuring that justice will be served for the victims of his crimes.
