A man who is currently awaiting a superior court date in Halifax County for first-degree murder and other related counts is now wanted for misdemeanor sexual battery in a separate case that occurred on Wednesday.
Jonathan James Brown, aged 36, has been identified as the individual who inappropriately grabbed a 16-year-old girl on the buttocks in an assaultive manner while inside a business on Premier Boulevard on Wednesday evening. Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Shane Guyant confirmed that Brown is currently out on bond.
Previous Charges
In addition to the misdemeanor sexual battery charge, Brown is also awaiting a superior court date for the January 2021 shooting death of 36-year-old Curtis Graham at Windchase Apartments. His brother, Joshua, was also charged in connection with this crime and is set to appear in court on July 8.
Furthermore, Jonathan Brown is wanted by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office for felony failure to register as a sex offender. He has been on the sex offender registry since December 2013 for a previous charge of sexual battery.
