Mahabubabad, May 31: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Mahabubabad district, Telangana, as a nine-year-old boy took his own life after being denied permission for a stylish haircut by his father. The young student, identified as E Harsha Vardhan, consumed pesticide in response to his father’s refusal, leading to a series of events that ultimately resulted in his tragic demise at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad on Friday, May 31.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death and to shed light on this devastating incident. According to a report by The Siasat Daily, Harsha Vardhan was the son of a farmer in Chinthagudem village in Ganagaram mandal. The sixth-grade student at Seethanagram government school had approached his father, Kantha Rao, with a request for a stylish haircut, which was denied.
Distraught by his father’s refusal, Harsha Vardhan ingested pesticide on May 26. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Gangaram, where his condition was assessed to be critical. Subsequently, he was transferred to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for advanced medical care. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, the young boy succumbed to the poisoning after four days of treatment.
Following his tragic death, the hospital authorities informed the police, who have registered a case of suspicious death. The postmortem procedures were conducted at Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, as confirmed by Gangram sub-inspector (SI) B Ravi.
