A man in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district was taken into custody for allegedly decapitating his wife following a dispute over dinner, local authorities revealed on Thursday.
The suspect reportedly murdered his wife, beheaded her, and mutilated her body.
The lifeless body of a 35-year-old woman, identified as Pushpa, was discovered inside the kitchen of her residence in Huliyurudurga village, Tumakuru district, where she resided with her spouse Shivaram.
The couple, who had been married for more than a decade, lived in a rented accommodation with their eight-year-old son, according to NDTV.
Law enforcement officials stated that the couple engaged in a heated argument on Monday night when Shivaram, a sawmill worker, returned home from work. The pair frequently quarreled over Shivaram’s occupation, as per police reports.
As the altercation escalated, Pushpa declined to prepare dinner for her husband. Enraged by her refusal, Shivaram allegedly used a machete to attack and decapitate her. Subsequently, he spent the night dismembering her body and slicing it into pieces, NDTV reported.
He continued to mutilate the body until dawn on Tuesday and then disclosed his ghastly actions to his landlord.
The couple’s young son was asleep during the tragic incident.
“The body of a 35-year-old woman was discovered at the scene. Her husband was also present. During interrogation, he admitted to the murder,” stated Ashok Venkat, Tumakuru Superintendent of Police, in an interview with India Today.
