MAHABUBABAD: In a heartbreaking turn of events, a nine-year-old boy tragically passed away after consuming pesticide in Chinthagudem village, located in Ganagaram mandal in Mahabubabad district on Friday.
The young boy, identified as E Harsha Vardhan, was a student in class 6 at the Seethanagram government school. The incident occurred when Harsha Vardhan, who had returned home for summer holidays, expressed his desire to sport a specific hairstyle that was in vogue. However, his father, Kantha Rao, a farmer, did not approve of his son’s request.
Disheartened by his father’s refusal, the boy resorted to consuming pesticide on May 26. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Gangaram, where medical professionals recommended transferring him to the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, the young boy succumbed to his injuries on Thursday after a valiant battle for four days.
Addressing the media, Gangram sub-inspector (SI) B Ravi disclosed that a case had been registered under Section 174 Crpc (relating to suspicious deaths), and the postmortem examination was conducted at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support, particularly among young individuals facing social pressures and emotional challenges. It highlights the need for open communication and understanding within families to prevent such devastating outcomes.
