Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A woman from Tampa has been accused of the murder of her 18-year-old daughter, who tragically passed away after reporting to the police that she had been strangled by her own mother.

The incident took place in the early hours of May 11, when Natavia Sanders made a distress call to the authorities, claiming that she had regained consciousness after being strangled by her mother, later identified as Rotesha Silveus, aged 38. Unfortunately, the call got disconnected before full details could be provided.

Law enforcement officers promptly responded to the scene at the 1900 block of East 23rd Avenue. Initially uncooperative, Silveus was eventually detained following a brief altercation, leading to the discovery of Sanders in an unresponsive state within the property.

Immediate first aid measures were taken by the officers, administering CPR before Tampa Fire Rescue transported Sanders to a nearby medical facility in a critical condition.

Subsequently, Silveus was apprehended and transferred to the Orient Road Jail. Initially facing charges of resisting an officer with violence and aggravated battery causing severe bodily harm, the gravity of the situation escalated with Sanders’ tragic demise on May 13.

Following an assessment by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office, the cause of death was confirmed as homicide, with findings indicating injuries consistent with strangulation.

On May 24, Silveus was officially indicted with first-degree murder charges, and she remains in custody at the Orient Road Jail pending legal proceedings.
