Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded in rural Mission, as a deadly shooting took place following a dispute between relatives over roosters. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has reported that 21-year-old Aaron Cervantes has been arrested on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of his uncle, 54-year-old Fernando Madrid.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office rushed to the scene on the 5700 block of North Doffing Road at 3:53 a.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they discovered Madrid with a fatal gunshot wound. The tragic incident was the result of a heated argument over the ownership of roosters between Cervantes and Madrid.

Witnesses at the scene recounted that Cervantes, accompanied by another relative, had arrived at the residence to claim roosters that he believed belonged to him. Madrid confronted Cervantes, leading to a heated argument that ultimately ended in tragedy when Cervantes allegedly shot his uncle. Madrid was found lifeless in a restroom at the residence.

Cervantes was promptly taken into custody and is set to be arraigned on Friday, May 31 at 1 p.m., as confirmed by a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office. This is an ongoing investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
