Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a deadly double shooting in Oakwood Village earlier this month, but a second suspect remains at large.
According to Toronto Police, the incident took place in front of a low-rise apartment building on Winona Drive, near Vaughan Road, just after 1 a.m. on May 7. Responding officers discovered a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.
The male victim, identified as 31-year-old Trevor Dalton John, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, making him the 28th murder victim in the city this year.
The female victim was also taken to the hospital for treatment and survived the attack. Witnesses reported that the two assailants fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shooting.
Residents of the apartment building where the incident occurred told the Toronto Sun that the deceased victim was a resident of the building. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown as investigators continue to gather evidence.
Following their investigation, police identified two suspects involved in the shooting. While one suspect has been apprehended, the search for the second suspect is ongoing.
