Clermont Woman Arrested for Alleged Domestic Battery on Ex-Husband

A woman from Clermont was taken into custody after being accused of assaulting her ex-husband following a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation. The incident occurred when the ex-husband attempted to record the woman’s outburst on his phone, prompting her to react aggressively.

The incident was reported to the authorities by a neighbour who heard the commotion and saw the woman leaving the scene in a dark blue vehicle. Law enforcement officers arrived at the residence in response to a call reporting a potential domestic violence situation.

Upon arrival, the victim, who was walking his dog at the time, recounted how his ex-wife approached him aggressively, shouting threats and accusations. He attempted to distance himself from the situation by recording the encounter on his phone, only to have the device forcibly taken from him by the ex-wife.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the altercation, with bruising visible on both his wrists. He cooperated with the authorities, providing evidence and a detailed statement in support of the prosecution. Additionally, a witness corroborated the victim’s account, describing the aggressive behaviour exhibited by the woman.

Following a thorough investigation and canvassing of the neighbourhood, the woman was located and detained for questioning. However, she declined to provide a statement and requested legal representation. Subsequently, she was transported to the local detention facility without further incident.

The woman, originally from Wisconsin, was formally charged with simple battery (domestic) and a bail amount of £1,000 was set in accordance with the severity of the offence.
