HOUSTON – Charges have been brought against a teenager in Houston in connection with the fatal shooting of a man on March 15th.

The Houston Police Department has reported that a 16-year-old has been accused of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the tragic death of Jairo Funez-Guifarro, 28. The suspect has been referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities for further action.

Crime Scene Details

According to law enforcement officials, the shooting took place at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 9500 block of West Sam Houston Parkway. It was reported that Funez-Guifarro was transported to a hospital in a private vehicle after sustaining gunshot wounds during an altercation with individuals in another vehicle.

Regrettably, Funez-Guifarro was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

Investigation Details

Investigators have disclosed that Funez-Guifarro was seated in the rear of a vehicle when the suspect drove past and fired shots from the vehicle, striking him.

Initially, there were no specific descriptions of the suspect. However, through further investigation, law enforcement officials were able to identify and apprehend the 16-year-old suspect. He was taken into custody without any resistance by Houston Police on May 29th.
