Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Two parents have been taken into custody in connection with a missing juvenile case that unfolded in Bunkie, Louisiana. The Bunkie Police Department revealed that the case, which dates back to January, involved a 17-year-old girl who was reported missing but was later found to have been enduring years of abuse at the hands of her parents.

The girl, whose identity has not been disclosed, was initially reported missing several months ago. However, it was subsequently discovered that she had not run away but had actually been forced to leave her home due to ongoing mistreatment. Both of her parents, identified as Travis Shane Ducote, aged 56, and Dawn Ducote, also 56, were aware that she had nowhere to go when she left the Knights Inn Motel.

According to Bunkie Police Department officials, Dawn Ducote waited for about four days before reporting her daughter as missing, and made the call from a different state. When questioned about meeting with investigators to provide more information about her daughter’s disappearance, she claimed that she and Travis were in Texas and unable to return to Bunkie.

The missing girl was eventually located safe and sound on January 25th in Evangeline Parish. However, despite being informed by the police that they needed to be interviewed about the case, the Ducotes refused to disclose their location or return to Bunkie. Consequently, arrest warrants were issued for both parents.

After evading authorities for several months, the Ducotes were apprehended in Randolph County, Arkansas. They were then extradited back to Avoyelles Parish, where they were arrested and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center 1.

Travis Ducote is facing charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, domestic abuse by strangulation, simple battery, and criminal neglect of family. Meanwhile, Dawn Ducote has been charged as an accomplice in second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, domestic abuse by strangulation, simple battery, and criminal neglect of family.
