INDIANAPOLIS – A serial flasher is behind bars after allegedly exposing himself to a mother and her children on the east side of Indianapolis. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Cameron Greenwood, has been arrested multiple times this month for public indecency.
Jamesha Bell, the mother who witnessed the incident, recounted the shocking event that took place on Thursday, May 23. Bell and her six children were enjoying the outdoors near New York and Dequincy Street when Greenwood pulled down his pants and touched his genitals in front of them.
Bell expressed her disbelief, stating, “We were outside hanging out, just enjoying the beautiful day. Didn’t think they’d see a penis.” She further revealed that she chased Greenwood on foot from their house to Washington and Dequincy Street out of sheer instinct.
After a police intervention, Greenwood was taken into custody. According to a probable cause affidavit, Greenwood had committed similar acts of indecency on the same day, including incidents on 10th Street, at a McDonald’s drive-thru, a Dairy Queen, and a gas station corner.
IMPD Lt. Shane Foley commented on the case, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations. “Our officers are responding to runs and doing what they can to make arrests. In this case, we have a man who is alleged to have exposed himself to kids. The officers involved appreciated the public’s help,” Foley stated.
Greenwood’s arrest on a felony charge was made possible due to his previous conviction for a similar offense. Court records dating back to 2019 reveal that Greenwood has been arrested at least 47 times for various crimes, with nine of those arrests related to nudity, exposure, or public indecency.
Most of Greenwood’s charges were either dismissed or resolved through plea agreements. The repeated nature of Greenwood’s offenses has raised concerns among law enforcement and the community.
Greenwood’s repeated run-ins with the law underscore the need for stronger measures to address such behavior and protect the community from individuals engaging in public indecency. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of swift and decisive action in apprehending and holding accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
