The incident unfolded on Tuesday, May 28, when police received reports of the child’s disappearance from the DCFS office on Newell Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that custody of the child had recently been granted to DCFS by the courts. The child’s mother, Jessica Walsh, 29, and father, Jeffrey Cook, 57, both residents of Lake in the Hills, reacted by absconding with the 5-year-old in their vehicle.
