The North Carolina State Highway Patrol revealed that the driver of the Ford Ranger was travelling westbound on Mount Zion Church Road, while the Ford Fusion was heading northbound on N.C. 71. Tragically, both drivers failed to adhere to the stop sign at the intersection, leading to the fatal collision that sent the Ranger careening into a nearby ditch.
