Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities from the Nevada State Police have determined that speed was the primary factor in a tragic crash that resulted in the death of a Silver Springs man in Lyon County.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 24th, around 11:00 p.m., at the intersection of US95A and US50 in Lyon County. Emergency responders were called to the scene to investigate the crash.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the Nevada State Police, a silver 2009 Ford Fusion was travelling north on US95A towards a roundabout that intersects with US50. The driver of the Ford was reportedly travelling at a speed that was deemed excessive for the road conditions at the time.

As the Ford approached the roundabout, it collided with the decorative rocks located in the centre of the roundabout. The impact caused the vehicle to veer across the opposite travel lane of the roundabout and onto US50 west, before ultimately coming to rest in the northbound travel lane of US95A, facing south.

The driver of the Ford has been identified as 84-year-old Rogers Heinrichs Jr of Silver Springs. Following the crash, Heinrichs was airlifted to the hospital via Care Flight for treatment. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on May 7th.

The Nevada State Police have reiterated the importance of adhering to speed limits and driving cautiously, especially in challenging road conditions. They are urging all motorists to exercise caution and responsibility while behind the wheel to prevent further tragedies on the road.
