The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office received information on Tuesday evening that John Victor May, wanted for two felony warrants, was operating a grey Kia Sorrento in the vicinity. At approximately 11:50 pm, a deputy spotted the Sorrento near County Road 172 close to County Road 175.

Despite attempts to initiate a traffic stop for speeding, the driver proceeded onto Highway 30 in Brazos County. Law enforcement made several efforts to deploy tire deflation devices, but the vehicle skillfully evaded them, leading to a prolonged chase through Bryan and College Station.

During the pursuit, the driver, later identified as May, contacted the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, claiming to be armed with a pistol and threatening to shoot any approaching law enforcement officers. Multiple agencies coordinated to reposition the tire deflation devices on University Drive at Highway 6, resulting in a successful strike on the Sorrento.

The vehicle eventually halted in a wooded area near Oakmont Circle and University Drive. Following a brief standoff, May surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Grimes County Jail on charges including Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Items under 50, as well as two warrants for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
