A healthcare worker has been taken into custody for allegedly committing injury to a disabled person in The Woodlands, following an incident where he reportedly assaulted one of his patients.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District 6 units were called to Hopvine Court on May 28 to investigate a report of abuse towards a disabled individual. The victim’s mother informed deputies that the home healthcare provider had physically harmed her son.
Subsequent investigations by MCSO detectives revealed that the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Ruben Cano from Conroe, had assaulted the victim several days prior to the report. Cano was arrested on the same day for Injury to a Disabled Person, which is classified as a third-degree felony.
Authorities are urging any former patients of Ruben Cano who may have experienced physical harm while under his care to come forward and contact the MCSO at 936-760-5800, selecting option 3, and referencing case number #24A149685.
