CONCORD, CA (May 29, 2024) — A terrifying incident unfolded in Concord on Monday evening when a distressed resident called the Concord Police Department to report a home invasion on Rosebrook Court. The caller, a woman with three young children, reported that a man known to her had forced his way into her home at 6:08 pm.
The intruder, identified as 47-year-old Christian Stuart, was armed with a handgun and brandished it, threatening the adult victim and one of the children. Thanks to the quick thinking of the adult victim, she managed to distract Stuart and lead all of them to safety outside the house.
Police responded promptly to the call, securing the area, and deploying a drone to monitor the situation. Gunshots were heard coming from inside the residence, raising tensions and adding an element of danger to the already precarious situation.
After a tense standoff that lasted for hours, Stuart finally emerged from the house holding the firearm. Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend him without any harm coming to anyone involved. Upon investigation, it was discovered that several bullets had been fired inside the house, and evidence of a small fire was also found.
Stuart claimed that he had entered the victim’s home because he was being pursued by armed individuals, but a thorough investigation found no evidence to support his statement. He was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Arson, Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded and Unregistered Firearm, and Cruelty to a Child. Stuart was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility pending further legal proceedings.
