Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Brownwood Police Department recently issued a press release detailing a significant joint narcotics investigation that took place in Brown County, Texas. On May 23, 2024, the Brownwood Police Department, Coleman Police Department, Early Police Department, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office collaborated on a thorough operation.

The investigation led to a traffic stop in the 11000 block of US Highway 183 North, where officers encountered a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jeremy John Howell, with 51-year-old Tonya Lee Mason Howell as the front right passenger. A routine communications check revealed outstanding warrants for both individuals, prompting their immediate arrest.

Upon further inspection, a K-9 unit detected the presence of illegal substances in the vehicle, leading to a thorough search. Authorities discovered approximately 1 kilogram (over 2 pounds) of suspected methamphetamine in the passenger compartment, along with approximately 11 grams of suspected cocaine in Jeremy Howell’s possession. Additionally, a quantity of a substance believed to be dimethyltryptamine (DMT) was seized during the operation.

As a result of the investigation, both Jeremy Howell and Tonya Lee Mason Howell were charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance (specifically methamphetamine) in a significant quantity. Jeremy Howell faced additional charges related to the manufacture and delivery of cocaine in a specified amount. Both suspects were also served with sealed indictments for narcotics delivery, as per the press release.
