On May 23, 2024, the Brownwood Police Department, Coleman Police Department, Early Police Department, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office collaborated on a thorough operation.
The investigation led to a traffic stop in the 11000 block of US Highway 183 North, where officers encountered a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jeremy John Howell, with 51-year-old Tonya Lee Mason Howell as the front right passenger. Upon further inspection, a K-9 unit detected the presence of illegal substances in the vehicle, leading to a thorough search. As a result of the investigation, both Jeremy Howell and Tonya Lee Mason Howell were charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance (specifically methamphetamine) in a significant quantity. Jeremy Howell faced additional charges related to the manufacture and delivery of cocaine in a specified amount.
