Bhopal: In a tragic incident that has shocked the community of Bodal Kachhar village in Chhindwara district, a 27-year-old man took the lives of eight of his family members, including his wife, mother, and three children, before taking his own life. The perpetrator, identified as Dinesh Sariyam, had only been married for eight days before the horrific event unfolded.
According to Superintendent of Police Manish Khatri, Dinesh Sariyam, described as “mentally disturbed”, carried out the brutal act in the early hours of the morning. His victims included his wife, mother, sister, brother, brother’s wife, and three young children. Another nephew was also targeted but managed to escape.
Upon receiving a distress call from a woman in the village, the police immediately responded to the scene. Despite their efforts to locate Dinesh, he was later discovered hanging from a tree nearby. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations, while the injured nephew was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences over the tragedy and instructed Minister Sampatia Uikey to visit the surviving family members in Chhindwara. Initial investigations suggest that Dinesh Sariyam may have been suffering from mental instability.
Authorities are continuing to delve into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with the SP confirming that a thorough investigation is underway to understand the full extent of the tragedy.
