Deon Blankenship : “Man Points Rifle at Shreveport Police”

SHREVEPORT, LA- Tense moments unfolded in Shreveport today as police responded to a report of an armed person in the 600 block of Kingstown Place. A concerned citizen alerted authorities to a male suspect wielding a rifle and pacing in a yard.

Upon reaching the scene at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers encountered the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Deon Blankenship. Blankenship allegedly aimed the rifle at the officers, prompting them to seek cover. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Through their training and quick decision-making, the officers managed to de-escalate the situation and apprehend Blankenship without further conflict. Blankenship now faces a charge of aggravated assault against a police officer.
