A member of the Namibian Defence Force stationed at Rundu Military Base was tragically found dead in a hospital toilet yesterday morning, according to Kavango East acting regional commander deputy commissioner Eino Nambahu.
The deceased has been identified as Isai Kanhuku, aged 33. Nambahu revealed that Kanhuku had been admitted to the hospital on Saturday. Nurses at the hospital reported that Kanhuku had informed them he was going to use the toilet, and they noticed nothing unusual when he left for the restroom.
Kanhuku’s family has been notified of his untimely passing, Nambahu confirmed.
Sexual Assault on 17-Year-Old Girl with Intellectual Disability
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Omusati police regional commander Ismael Basson has reported a disturbing case of sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl with an intellectual disability.
The incident occurred on Friday night when the suspect entered a room with the victim in Ruacana constituency, Omusati region. Basson stated, “He engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim who is unable to give consent.”
The suspect is known to the authorities, and an arrest is imminent as police investigations into the matter continue.
