Authorities have confirmed that the human remains discovered near Dawson Creek, B.C., belong to a woman who was reported missing late last year.

The woman has been identified as Renee Didier (Supernant), whose body was found on May 18 near the Kiskatinaw River, located west of the northeastern B.C. city.

Didier, a Cree woman and mother of two, was last captured on gas station surveillance footage on December 3, 2023, and was officially reported missing on December 7.

At 40 years old when she disappeared, Didier is one of four individuals to have gone missing from Dawson Creek, a city in the Peace River region, approximately 740 kilometres north of Vancouver and 20 kilometres from the Alberta border, with a population of 12,000.

Among the other missing persons are Didier’s cousin, Darylyn Supernant, who was last seen on March 15, 2023.

Additionally, Dave Daniel Domingo, a 24-year-old believed to have been in a rural area near Dawson Creek on August 29, and Cole Hosack, a 24-year-old from Prince George last seen on New Year’s Eve at the same bar Didier was spotted shortly before her disappearance, are also missing.

Furthermore, on April 19, authorities found human remains on the 219 Road near Saskatoon Creek, north of the city, but a positive identification has not yet been announced in that case.

Remembered as ‘Fun Loving’ by Grandmother

In a previous interview with CBC News, Didier’s grandmother, Verna Cardinal, fondly described her as a “fun-loving” mother of two.

“She always had a lot of laughter,” Cardinal shared.

Expressing concerns about Didier’s associations with individuals involved in drugs shortly before her disappearance, Cardinal noted that it was unusual for her granddaughter not to make contact. She mentioned that she was supposed to pick Didier up on the night she went missing but never received a call.

The family has requested privacy following the discovery of Didier’s remains.

Anyone with information regarding Didier’s death or disappearance is urged to contact Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
