Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man who was taken into custody in March following a series of random assaults across New York City over the past year has been formally charged with hate crime offences in connection to several incidents, prosecutors revealed on Tuesday.

Skiboky Stora, a 40-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York, stands accused of assaulting, stalking, and harassing strangers in a string of “anti-female, anti-white, and antisemitic incidents” that took place between September of last year and March of this year, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Stora now faces three counts of third-degree assault as a hate crime, as well as one count each of third-degree stalking as a hate crime and second-degree aggravated harassment.

“Skiboky Stora allegedly carried out a series of hate-driven attacks against multiple individuals based on their perceived gender, race, and religion,” stated Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a released statement. “Respect and acceptance for all people are fundamental aspects of our city’s identity. No one should have to live in fear for their safety due to their identity.”

Initially apprehended on an assault charge in connection to an attack on at least one woman in Manhattan, Stora was arrested two days after the incident following a joint investigation by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force and the district attorney’s office. The victim, a 23-year-old woman, reported being struck in the head while walking in the Chelsea neighborhood on the morning of March 25, resulting in pain and swelling on the left side of her head.

The incident occurred amidst a series of unprovoked assaults reported by nearly half a dozen women across the city, where they claimed to have been punched in the head or face by an unidentified assailant. Police are also investigating a similar attack involving a 25-year-old woman on St. Patrick’s Day.

In addition to the March 25 incident, Stora has been accused of committing hate crimes in three other incidents in 2023. On September 20, he allegedly elbowed a 17-year-old student in the neck while using offensive language in Chelsea. On October 26, he reportedly elbowed a 37-year-old woman in the left shoulder as she walked past him in the same neighborhood. And on November 18, a Jewish couple walking their dogs in Union Square encountered Stora tearing down posters of Israeli hostages. When the couple attempted to photograph him, Stora followed them, shouting anti-white and antisemitic remarks.

A Good Samaritan intervened, inviting the couple into an apartment building to escape from Stora’s harassment. Undeterred, Stora followed them into the lobby and shouted hateful remarks at them.

Stora was arraigned on Tuesday and has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. He has publicly claimed that authorities lacked probable cause to arrest him and has criticized Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Stora’s remarks outside the courtroom were captured by local news outlet WNYW.
