The victim who lost his life in the incident has been identified as 21-year-old Joshua Cervantes by the Santa Ana Police Department.

The heartbreaking incident took place on April 2, 2023, at the intersection of Ross Street and St. Gertrude Place. Cervantes and some friends were standing near a car in the roadway when a speeding SUV struck him and a friend. The driver of the SUV fled the scene without stopping, leaving Cervantes lying unresponsive on the road. Despite efforts to save him, Cervantes was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local trauma center. The other person involved in the crash was hospitalized for several days but survived the ordeal.

Frances Morga, Cervantes’ mother, expressed her devastation over the loss of her son, describing him as her world.
