On the night of Tuesday, a devastating incident unfolded in Kandhamal, Odisha, as a speeding bus lost control at a sharp turn, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries. The bus, carrying 50 passengers from Muniguda in Rayagada district to Phulbani in Kandhamal, overturned near Phiringia due to its high speed.
Local authorities and the police swiftly responded to the scene of the accident, transporting the injured individuals to the nearest hospital for urgent medical care. Tragically, among the casualties were the bus’s ticket conductor, Bijaya Patnaik, and a 17-year-old boy named Arjun Kanhar.
The severity of the situation was further highlighted by SDM Phulbani, Chittaranjan Mahanta, who stated, “Two individuals lost their lives, while nine others sustained injuries and were promptly admitted to the hospital. The bus overturned at a sharp turn in Phiringia due to the driver’s inability to control the vehicle, attributed to overspeeding.”
