Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Court documents have revealed that a man recently convicted of two counts of second-degree murder has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for a fatal shooting incident that took place in 2022.

Idris Haji-Mohamed, aged 29, was sentenced by Hennepin County Judge Paul Scoggin to 306 months (equivalent to 25.5 years) at the St. Cloud prison, with 511 days of credit, for one count of second-degree intentional murder. The sentencing for the second count was not read in as it was an unintentional murder charge, resulting in a lesser sentence.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS previously reported that Haji-Mohamed was found guilty in the death of 26-year-old Jeremy Demond Ellis on December 30, 2022.

Ellis was discovered inside a vehicle by law enforcement officers, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Haji-Mohamed.

An eyewitness at the scene recounted hearing gunshots and observing a man, later identified as Haji-Mohamed, crouching near a car. The individual then proceeded to enter an apartment building and take the elevator to the sixth floor, as per the complaint.

Shortly thereafter, Haji-Mohamed was seen leaving the apartment building by the police, who promptly apprehended him. During his time in custody, he provided law enforcement with various conflicting accounts before eventually confessing to shooting Ellis after an alleged attempt by Ellis to steal his vehicle.
