In a devastating incident on Saturday afternoon, two children lost their lives in a harrowing two-vehicle crash at an intersection in LaPorte County, Indiana. The victims, an 11-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Details of the Crash
At approximately 12:42 p.m., a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer towing a U-haul trailer was travelling south on CR 900 West in LaPorte County. Simultaneously, a red 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck was heading east on Joliet Road. Tragically, the Chevy Trailblazer failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. Both drivers sustained upper body injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The driver of the Chevy Trailblazer has been identified as 41-year-old Luis DeLeon Muniz. Additionally, a 36-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl who were passengers in the Chevy also suffered upper body injuries. The 16-year-old girl had to be airlifted to a regional hospital for further medical attention.
Tragic Loss of Young Lives
Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, the two children involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology tests are currently underway to determine if any substances played a role in the accident.
