ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. – Authorities in Alleghany County have recovered a body from Dunlap Creek over the weekend, the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.

According to reports, on Friday, May 24, deputies came across an unattended vehicle in the parking lot near Humpback Bridge that belonged to Christopher Lee Williamson. Williamson was wanted on three outstanding warrants from Prince William County for aggravated sexual battery, officials stated.

Following the discovery of the vehicle, deputies utilized K-9 units and drone technology provided by the Virginia State Police to conduct a search of the area in an attempt to locate Williamson. Unfortunately, their efforts proved unsuccessful.

The next day, a body was found in the water, which was later identified as Christopher Lee Williamson. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear at this time.

Active Investigation Ongoing

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office has classified this incident as an active investigation, with authorities awaiting the results of the State Medical Examiner’s Office to shed light on the cause of Williamson’s death.
