Accident – Death – Obituary News : LaPorte County, Indiana – Tragedy struck on Saturday afternoon in LaPorte County when a fatal crash claimed the lives of two children. The LaPorte County sheriff’s office reported that the incident occurred at the intersection of Joliet Road and CR 900 West, where a black 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer pulling a U-Haul trailer collided with a red 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck.
According to officials, the Chevrolet failed to stop at the intersection, resulting in a devastating crash. An 11-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, both passengers in the Chevrolet, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been disclosed at this time.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 41-year-old Luis De Leon Muniz, along with two other passengers, a 36-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, sustained upper body injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The 16-year-old girl was airlifted to a regional hospital for further medical attention. All occupants of the Chevrolet are residents of Justice, Illinois.
The driver of the Ford, 47-year-old Casey L. Krivak from La Porte, also suffered upper body injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. The sheriff’s office has stated that toxicology test results are pending, and no additional information has been released by authorities at this time.
