Accident – Death – Obituary News :
The Virginia State Police have launched an investigation into a tragic three-vehicle collision that resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 26th, at 5:00 p.m. on Route 311, just one mile north of Route 692 in Craig County.
According to authorities, a 2015 Kia Sorrento was travelling north on Route 311 when it rear-ended a 2015 Buick Lacrosse that was also in the northbound lane. The Buick had come to a stop in the roadway to make a legal left turn. Both vehicles veered off the left side of the road and collided with a parked and unoccupied 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver of the Kia has been identified as 55-year-old Sherrie Joann Robertson from New Castle, Va. Unfortunately, Robertson was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Additionally, the driver of the Buick, a 28-year-old female, and a 39-year-old male passenger, who was wearing his seatbelt, sustained injuries in the collision. There were also two juveniles in the Buick, a 3-year-old male and a 2-year-old male. Fortunately, all occupants of the Buick were taken to a Roanoke Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The juveniles were properly secured in child safety seats.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
