A shocking incident unfolded at the Patna Law College campus on Monday afternoon, resulting in the tragic death of Harsh Raj, a 22-year-old final-year student at BN College and a prominent figure in student politics. Harsh Raj, who served as the national president of the Loknayak Yuva Parishad organisation, was brutally beaten to death by masked attackers.

Police Launch Special Investigation Following Patna College Murder
In response to the heinous crime, the Patna Police swiftly formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into the circumstances surrounding the murder of Harsh Raj. As part of their ongoing investigation, the authorities have apprehended one suspect, identified as Chandan Kumar, a final-year student of Patna College residing in Bihta, Patna. Efforts are currently underway to track down other individuals involved in the fatal attack.
SP City of Patna East, Bharat Soni, stated, “A special investigation team has been constituted by Patna Police to probe this case. With the combined efforts of our teams, we have successfully arrested one accused, with others identified. Our team is actively pursuing arrests in other districts, while another team is diligently collecting evidence. The exact cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem examination.”
Arrested Suspect Confesses to Involvement
According to a statement released by the Patna Police, Chandan Kumar, the arrested suspect residing in Jackson hostel at Patna College, allegedly orchestrated the conspiracy to eliminate Harsh Raj. During interrogation, Kumar admitted his participation and provided crucial information regarding other accomplices involved in the crime.
Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, strongly condemned the brutal act, ensuring that the perpetrators would face the full force of the law for their actions.
“Those responsible for the student’s murder should not expect any leniency. Stringent action will be taken. I have engaged with the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and swift justice for the victim,” stated Deputy Chief Minister Sinha.

While the motive behind the vicious attack remains under scrutiny, authorities suspect that it may stem from long-standing animosities. A senior officer of the Patna Police highlighted, “Preliminary findings suggest that the incident could be linked to past grievances.
