WILMINGTON, DE – A 43-year-old man, Alexis Martinez, has been arrested by Delaware State Police for a string of burglaries that have taken place in Wilmington over the past few months. The incidents occurred at various locations along Philadelphia Pike.

On a Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:53 p.m., troopers were called to the Penny Hill Repair and Service Center on Philadelphia Pike after receiving a report of a man trespassing on the property and breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot. The owner of the auto shop confronted the suspect, who then fled on foot.

Shortly after this incident, troopers were alerted to another burglary at Saint Helena Roman Catholic Church, also located on Philadelphia Pike. The description of the suspect in this case matched that of the individual involved in the earlier incident at the repair shop.

Upon arriving at the church, a trooper spotted a man fitting the suspect’s description walking along Philadelphia Pike. The individual was identified as Alexis Martinez, and his clothing matched that worn by the suspect in several recent burglaries, including at the White Glove Car Wash on Philadelphia Pike.

Martinez was taken into custody without any resistance and transported to Troop 2. During the investigation, detectives determined that Martinez was responsible for a total of 8 burglaries that occurred between December 6, 2023, and May 26, 2024, at various locations along Philadelphia Pike.

The burglaries took place at the White Glove Car Wash, Saint Helena Roman Catholic Church, and Penny Hill Repair and Service Center. Martinez is facing multiple charges, including eight counts of burglary in the 3rd degree, five counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, three counts of possession of burglar tools, five counts of theft under $1,500, two counts of attempted theft under $1,500, five counts of criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.

Following his arrest, Martinez was arraigned and subsequently taken to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, where he is being held on a $14,251 secured bond.
