Pune Police are cracking down on the Porsche car crash case that occurred on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar area, which resulted in the death of two IT professionals. The investigation took a surprising turn when it was revealed that the blood samples of the juvenile driver involved in the accident were tampered with. The police arrested two doctors and a hospital staffer from Sassoon General Hospital for their involvement in replacing the blood samples.

Arrest of Hospital Staff

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dr Ajay Taware, head of the hospital’s Forensic Medicine department, Dr Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer, and Atul Ghatkamble, a staffer working under Dr Taware. The police have remanded them in custody until May 30.

Manipulation of Blood Samples

According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the juvenile driver’s father contacted the doctors and offered them incentives to replace his son’s blood samples. As a result of this manipulation, the initial report from Sassoon General Hospital showed no traces of alcohol in the juvenile’s blood.

Investigation and Legal Actions

The police are also investigating Vishal Agarwal, the father of the 17-year-old driver, in connection with a separate case of kidnapping and wrongful confinement of his driver. Additionally, representatives from Porsche visited the Yerwada police station to conduct a technical inspection of the luxury car involved in the crash.

Legal Ramifications

Indian Penal sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) have been added to the case against the juvenile driver. The father has been named as a co-accused in the ongoing investigation.

Further Revelations

The police commissioner emphasized that the case against the juvenile driver is not solely dependent on the blood sample evidence. The investigation is focused on section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) as the teenager was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Conclusion

The manipulation of the blood samples came to light when a sample for DNA testing was sent to another hospital, revealing discrepancies in the reports. The police are actively pursuing leads to determine whose blood samples were used to replace those of the juvenile. The investigation includes reviewing CCTV footage from Sassoon General Hospital and conducting technical analyses to unravel the full extent of the deception.
