A dramatic dashboard camera video captured LAPD cruisers chasing an attempted murder suspect on a bicycle along the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles. The incident unfolded on April 26, starting at around 11:45 a.m. in Cypress Park.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a shooting investigation in the 100 block of East Avenue 36, just north of the 110 Freeway. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old John Lopez, allegedly shot a family member after a verbal altercation and fled the scene.

Following the incident, a crime broadcast was issued, and an LAPD air unit spotted Lopez riding a bicycle on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway. The police cruisers quickly initiated a high-speed pursuit to apprehend the suspect.

The intense chase unfolded as Lopez tried to evade the pursuing officers on his bicycle, weaving through traffic on the busy freeway. The LAPD deployed various tactics to safely stop the suspect and bring the situation under control.

Eventually, after a tense pursuit, Lopez was successfully apprehended by the LAPD officers. He was taken into custody without further incident and now faces charges related to the attempted murder of his family member.
