Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A recent arrest report has shed light on the events leading up to the discovery of a body near the Las Vegas Strip last month.

On the 28th of April, Las Vegas police were alerted to a body wrapped in a tarp in the 800 block of Sahara Avenue. The discovery was made after a woman called 911 upon spotting a discoloured human hand protruding from the tarp. She and her friend left the area out of fear.

The victim was identified as Robert Rodriguez, who had succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head. Surveillance footage from nearby establishments revealed a man pushing a cart, removing items including a tarp, and leaving them at the scene where the victim was found.

Subsequently, on the 1st of May, authorities were informed by a concerned citizen about a woman claiming her boyfriend had been shot and that someone had disposed of his body. The suspect, 48-year-old Gennady Zhuravlyon, was apprehended following this tip-off.

During questioning, Zhuravlyon denied any involvement despite being shown incriminating video evidence. He failed to provide a statement or refute allegations of his role in the crime.

Further investigations on the 2nd of May uncovered details from Rodriguez’s girlfriend. She revealed that both were homeless and resided in a tent near the Eureka Casino. On the day of the incident, Rodriguez had gone to a friend’s house, identified as 67-year-old Loth Rodriguez, against her instructions.

Police visited Loth’s residence on the 3rd of May, where they discovered blood spatter on the walls and floor. Loth confessed to shooting Robert in self-defence during a confrontation inside his apartment. He claimed he meant to scare the victim and was unaware of his fatal injury until later.

Despite being asked why he did not seek medical help immediately, Loth remained silent. He has since been charged with open murder and is scheduled to appear in court on July 11.

Zhuravlyon faces charges of aiding a felony offender and is set to attend a preliminary hearing on Thursday.

The case continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of Robert Rodriguez. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story..
