ELBA, Wis. (WFRV) – A devastating collision in rural south-central Wisconsin early Monday morning resulted in the loss of four teenagers’ lives and left another seriously injured. The tragic incident occurred when their pickup truck collided with a semi-truck on State Highway 16/60 in the township of Elba, about three miles east of Columbus.
Deputies from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of the two-vehicle crash at approximately 4:00 a.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup truck was heading north on County Highway TT when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. This led to a fatal collision with a semi-truck travelling east on State Highway 16/60.
Tragically, three of the five occupants in the pickup truck lost their lives at the scene of the crash. The victims were identified as a 19-year-old man from Sun Prairie, a 17-year-old boy from Sun Prairie, and a 16-year-old boy from Madison. Additionally, two 18-year-old women from Madison were rushed to a nearby hospital, with one sadly succumbing to her injuries while the other fought for her life.
The semi-truck involved in the collision was driven by a 57-year-old man from La Farge, who sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
