Riverhead Police have announced the arrest of a Mastic Beach man in connection with a felony robbery that occurred on Railroad Avenue on Sunday evening.

According to police reports, the incident took place at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Cedar Street around 6:57 p.m. when a male victim was allegedly punched in the face and robbed of his backpack by another man. The victim was knocked unconscious during the assault.

Upon receiving a 911 call reporting the robbery, Riverhead patrol officers quickly responded to the scene. Following an investigation by the Riverhead Police K9 and detective divisions, the suspect, identified as Juan Francisco Urizar Zamora, 19, of Mastic Beach, was located in the area of Court Street and Griffing Ave and taken into custody.

Zamora has been charged with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree, a class C felony, and is currently being held for arraignment.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the robbery to come forward and contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All information provided will be kept confidential.
