– Motorist asserts sovereignty to evade Colorado traffic citation.
Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A driver from Georgia certainly showed creativity in trying to avoid a ticket in Rocky Ford, Colorado over the weekend, but his plan ultimately failed.
According to Rocky Ford police, the man was pulled over for driving with a fake license plate. Instead of cooperating with the authorities, the driver attempted to use the “sovereign citizen” argument, claiming that he did not need to produce a driver’s license, registration, or proof of insurance as required by Colorado law.
However, officers saw through this ruse and quickly detained the suspect. The individual, later identified as Jonathan Thompson, 32, from Harlem, Georgia, was found to be in violation of various traffic-related laws.
The Rocky Ford Police Department issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to upholding the law: “Rocky Ford Police Department aren’t playing these kinds of games. Obey the law if you’d like to live in, drive through, or visit our wonderful city. Please and thank you.”
