Kolleh : “Ganta Man Killed by Exploding Object”

An unidentified object mysteriously exploded in the face of a young man in Ganta last week, resulting in his tragic and untimely death. The incident, which took place at approximately 9 a.m. on May 22, 2024, has left the community in shock and disbelief as they grapple with the mysterious circumstances surrounding the explosion.

According to an eyewitness account, the victim, known only as Kolleh, was scavenging for scraps at a dumpsite in Ganta when he stumbled upon a cylindrical-shaped object, approximately 10 inches in length. In a tragic turn of events, as he attempted to open the object to extract the metal inside, it exploded, causing fatal injuries to his head and resulting in his immediate death.

The nature of the object that caused the explosion remains unknown, leading to speculation and uncertainty among onlookers. Some have suggested that it may have been a grenade or an old rocket, while others believe it bore the characteristics of a dynamite device.

Contrary views have emerged, with a motorcyclist named Karnay stating, “If this object was a rocket or grenade, it would have damaged the man’s chest and his head completely.” Another individual added, “The head would have been blown off completely, and there would be no face to identify him, if this object was a grenade or rocket.”

Efforts to obtain information from the Liberia National Police (LNP) regarding the incident have been unsuccessful thus far. However, a source has indicated that the LNP will provide further details on the matter in due course as the investigation continues.
