Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from San Fernando has been taken into custody for allegedly shooting five individuals and firing at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter during a prolonged standoff over the weekend.

Police were called to the 900 block of Orange Grove Avenue at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of multiple gunshot victims at a residence in the vicinity, as stated by the San Fernando Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found four gunshot victims at the scene, with a fifth victim later identified at the hospital after having driven there independently, as mentioned in the police statement. The current condition of the victims remains unknown.

The suspect, Martin Rodriguez, aged 61, was apprehended at a nearby property close to where the shooting occurred. He barricaded himself inside his residence, leading to an extended standoff with law enforcement officials.

During the standoff, the suspect allegedly discharged shots at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter that was providing assistance in the investigation. The San Fernando Police Department, along with officers from Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, and the Los Angeles Police Department, as well as deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, collaborated in the operation that ultimately resulted in Rodriguez’s arrest.

Rodriguez faces charges including seven counts of attempted murder, one count of making criminal threats, one count of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and one count of shooting at an aircraft. His bail has been set at $9.8 million. The motive behind the incident has not yet been disclosed.
