In a heart-wrenching incident in Bengaluru, a six-year-old girl named Nagamani tragically lost her life after being run over by a car driven by a learner. The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Kaggalipura on Bannerghatta Road, leaving the entire community in shock.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the police, the young girl was playing with three other children outside her home when the tragic accident took place. The car struck Nagamani, causing severe injuries that proved fatal. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but sadly, she was declared brought dead upon arrival.

Nagamani’s uncle, Naveen Kumar, who was present at the scene, recounted the harrowing moment when he witnessed the car hitting his niece and the subsequent chaos that ensued. The girl sustained critical injuries to her head and abdomen in the accident.

Following the incident, the girl’s family members expressed their anguish over what they perceived as a lack of urgency on the part of the authorities in apprehending the woman responsible for the tragic event. They staged a protest the following day, demanding the immediate arrest of the driver.

However, the police stated that the woman was currently evading capture. Despite their claims, the girl’s family members asserted that the driver was spotted on the same night of the accident. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the woman, aged 22, had been in the process of obtaining a driving licence.

Reports indicated that the woman, who hailed from a family owning a private school in Kaggalipura, had taken her parents’ Hyundai Santro out for a driving lesson. Tragically, a misstep led to the fatal accident as she accidentally accelerated instead of applying the brakes.

Authorities are still in the process of determining the ownership of the vehicle involved in the accident. Due to the timing of the incident, occurring on a Saturday evening with Sunday following, details from the regional transport office regarding the car were yet to be obtained. However, the police assured that necessary actions would be taken in due course.

Nagamani was the cherished daughter of Timmaiah, a mason, and Venkatalakshmi, a domestic helper. The couple had previously suffered the loss of two children during childbirth, making Nagamani their only surviving child. The devastating loss has left the family and the local community in mourning.

A case has been registered in connection with the tragic incident, as the authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s untimely death.
