COWLEY COUNTY — Law enforcement officials in Cowley County are currently conducting an investigation into a suspect wanted for multiple allegations following an incident at a beef processing plant in south-central Kansas.

According to a recent media release, on May 14, police were called to Creekstone Farms located at 604 Goff Industrial Park Road in Arkansas City after receiving a report of a suspicious individual on the premises.

Employees at the plant informed officers that a male suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Esphesus Kago from Wichita, was exhibiting erratic behavior and appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances.

Upon further inspection, it was discovered that Kago was in possession of illegal substances. When authorities attempted to arrest him, Kago resisted, but was eventually apprehended and taken to the Cowley County Jail.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Kago had an active warrant issued by the United States Attorney General’s Office for aggravated assault on a postal worker.

Kago is currently being held in custody on charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the aforementioned federal warrant.
