Accident – Death – Obituary News : Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois has made an announcement regarding a 36-year-old man from Massachusetts who has pleaded guilty to charges related to the assaults on two minor victims. Jonathan Fleischmann from Yarmouth admitted guilt in the Barnstable Superior Court to a total of 6 charges, including Home Invasion, Firearm Armed Kidnapping, Firearm Armed Assault in a Dwelling, Assault to Rape, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery.

The incident took place on February 6, 2020, at around 2:20 pm, when Victim 1 was walking home from school with her boyfriend in Yarmouth. Upon reaching her home, Victim 1 encountered Fleischmann, who posed as an electric company representative and claimed that the power to her house would be shut off. However, Fleischmann then revealed a gun and forced Victim 1 to enter the house. When Victim 2 heard the commotion and approached the garage, Fleischmann fled the scene, pointing the gun at Victim 2, causing them to stop chasing him.

Yarmouth Police responded to the scene and identified Fleischmann through video footage from a nearby house. Victim 1 later confirmed his identity in a photo array on March 10, 2020. Fleischmann was sentenced to 12-15 years in State Prison at the Barnstable Superior Court, with Detective Eric Nuss from the Yarmouth Police Department leading the investigation.

It was revealed that Fleischmann is a Level 3 sex offender with prior convictions for Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14 in 2006 and Open and Gross Lewdness in 2017 at the Barnstable District Court. In June, Fleischmann was indicted by the Massachusetts Department of Justice after his coworkers reported that his cellphone was allegedly downloading suspected child pornography while left unattended at their workplace. A search of Fleischmann’s phone uncovered around 255 image files and 55 video files containing suspected child pornography.

Assistant District Attorney Courtney Scalice, along with Chief of Vulnerable Victim Abuse and Victim Witness Assistant Kimberly Pierce, prosecuted the case. The guilty plea of Jonathan Fleischmann serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals in our communities..
