Redding Police in California apprehended a man following a routine traffic stop that resulted in the uncovering of a loaded firearm and ammunition in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred just before midnight on Saturday night when officers from the Redding Police Department pulled over a grey Chrysler 200 at the intersection of Parkview Avenue and Hartnell Avenue due to vehicle code violations.
Upon approaching the driver, identified as 23-year-old Elijah Webster of Redding, he allegedly confessed to having a firearm inside the vehicle.
Discovery of Loaded Firearm
Following Webster’s admission, a search of the vehicle was conducted by the Redding Police officers. During the search, they discovered a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol along with a partial box of 9mm ammunition.
Arrest and Charges
As a result of the discovery, Webster was promptly taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Shasta County Jail. He faces charges of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded weapon while in a vehicle, and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
The Redding Police Department commended their officers for their vigilance and swift action in apprehending the suspect and removing a dangerous weapon from the streets.
