ELKHART, Ind. (WISH) — Authorities in Elkhart are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic shooting incident that resulted in the loss of a young life on Saturday night.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, emergency services were alerted to a shooting incident with injuries in the vicinity of the 1000 block of Portsmouth Drive in Elkhart. Responding swiftly to the call, officers from the Elkhart Police Department arrived at the scene along with a deputy from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon reaching the location, the deputy discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds near a pond situated behind Portsmouth Drive. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the victim, identified as 18-year-old Travelle Moore, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
At present, the Elkhart Police Department’s homicide unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
