Accident – Death – Obituary News : Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a road rage incident in the Mims area of Florida. The suspects, identified as 45-year-old Chad Morrow of Cocoa and 52-year-old Chad McAninch of Port St. John, allegedly opened fire on a family’s SUV on State Road 46 on Saturday evening.
According to the victims, they were driving eastbound when a black Dodge pickup truck began tailgating them. The situation quickly escalated as the truck overtook them, forced them off the road, and abruptly stopped in front of their vehicle. The suspects then emerged from the pickup and began shooting at the victims’ SUV. Miraculously, no one in the vehicle was injured despite the hail of bullets.
Deputies later found nine bullet holes in the SUV and a shattered front passenger window, confirming the victims’ account of the incident. Independent witnesses also provided crucial information to detectives during their investigation.
The victims immediately called 911 and followed the suspects’ truck from a safe distance as it continued into Brevard County. Brevard County sheriff’s deputies quickly located the suspects’ vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop, leading to the apprehension of Morrow and McAninch without further incident.
The family in the targeted SUV had three children—ages 6, 4, and 18 months—in the back seat during the shooting, but fortunately, they were unharmed. Morrow and McAninch have been charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. They are currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
