CPD Expands Investigation into Reported Sex Offense

CHARLOTTESVILLE, UK – The Charlottesville Police Department is currently conducting an extensive investigation into a reported sex offense that took place on May 25, 2024, at around 4:39 p.m. at 151 McIntire Park Drive.

On the afternoon of May 25, 2024, local law enforcement received a distressing report of a sex offense occurring at 151 McIntire Park Drive. According to initial reports, an adult male allegedly made inappropriate advances towards a 10-year-old child in the vicinity of the baseball field at McIntire Park. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Albemarle County resident, Jason Park Miller. Upon arrival at the scene, officers swiftly apprehended Miller based on witness statements. Subsequent investigation by detectives led to Miller’s arrest on charges of 18.2-370: Taking indecent liberties with children (Class 5 Felony) and 18.2-57: Assault and battery (Class 1 Misdemeanor). Miller is currently in custody at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.

The young victim, fortunately, did not sustain any physical injuries during the incident and is now safely reunited with their family. The Charlottesville Police Department commends the prompt actions of the reporting party and witnesses in bringing this matter to their attention and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
